SOL REPUBIC headphones busted down the door to Australia’s sound market on Thursday 21st of June at the Sydney Myer Basement, taking the mid-market position of high quality sound, extreme durability and sleek-style headphones at an accessible price.
Hip Hop Royalty crew, pumping music, LCD display screens and a dynamic crowd gathered to welcome this new headphone brand to Australia. What was already a monumental moment for the Australian sound market was only further hyped by the presence of Melbourne star and Sol Republics first brand Ambassador or “SOLdier” DJ Miami Blaq on the decks. Hiphop Legacy was fortunate enough to exclusively cover the event and support what will be a new sound revolution since Monster Beats by Dre hit the market over 4 years ago.
DJ Miami Blaq kicked off the event with her “Sound Track of Life”, a Sol Republic profile video into the role and importance of music in her life. Miami Blaq, originally from Melbourne and now a global touring artist states “I loved the way that music could be a way that I could express myself and show my emotions through dance and through singing. I didn’t actually have to use words.” Her words ring true for many artists within the dance and music space and as an influential member of the DJ scene Sol Republic has done an excellent job in selecting her to represent their brand.
The well-versed Royalty Crew (official crew of the NBL Sydney Kings ) followed suite by drawing crowds closer into a cypher and free style dancing in the center of level 4 of Myer in Sydney city. Each member of the team showcased his unique abilities, wearing the Sol Republic headphones and highlighted the durability and strength of the brand. Once the audiences were close enough DJ Miami Blaq dropped Royalty’s music and the choreography began. Royalty presented a customized Sol Republic Choreography, unique to Australia, which included the headphones in break dancing, popping, locking and other explosive movements. Each time the bands came out unscathed and in tact.
And to compliment the crowds energy, Sol Republic’s MC invited three audience members to battle it out for their very own pair of Sol Republic Headphones. Battling to LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock Anthem’, the crowd applauded as Jerry from Australia won the On-Ear Tracks and Sasha from Germany and Gabriel from the Philippines won the In-Ear Amps.
All in all, the Sydney Myer Sol Republic launch was as dynamic and energetic as the brand itself. We at Hiphop Legacy Magazine look forward to endorsing this unique product as it makes its way into the Australian ‘Soundtrack of Life’.
